Ybarra ready to put her stamp on education

Thursday, November 20, 2014
Mountain Home's Sherri Ybarra is the new state superintendent of education.

Election night for Sherri Ybarra was "exciting," as she waited to find out if she would be the next superintendent of public education for Idaho.

"It ranked right up there with getting married and having my son," she said.

Ybarra didn't realize initially how close the election was, or that she'd been trailing in the returns over the first few hours of the evening.

After a busy day, she got to the Republican Party election night headquarters in Boise a little late. The room was packed, she said, and she initially spent some time meeting with key members of the party and well wishers.
