Tigers' football team honored

A 1-8 season leaves a lot to be desired as far as won-loss records go, but 4A Southern Idaho Conference coaches recognized the efforts of the Mountain Home Tigers football team with 12 Tiger players earning 17 All-Conference awards.

Tanner Sessions earned First Team All-Conference at linebacker. He also received Honorable Mention All-Conference as running back.

Second Team All-Conference awards went to tight end Tyler Park and punter Jesse Cobos. Both also received Honorable Mention All-Conference awards -- Park as linebacker and Cobos as quarterback.

Also earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors were Jacob Ryan as a running back and defensive back (that despite going down with a season-ending injury in the fourth game), Christen Riedel on both the offensive and defensive line, Aaron Spencer on the offensive line, Jonathan Deese as linebacker, Luke Lockard, Chris Smith and AJ Daniels as receivers, Taylor Ogaard on the defensive line and Justin Lawrence as defensive back.

In team awards, the Most Improved Player award went to Aaron Spenser. The Most Inspirational Player award went to David Welle. The Offensive Lineman of the Year award went to Christen Riedel, and the Defensive Lineman of the year award went to Taylor Ogaard. Jesse Cobos was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year and Tanner Sessions earned Defensive Player of the Year. The Scott Yagues award was shared by Christen Riedel and Tanner Sessions.
