Police have released the photo of a person of interest they would like to talk to in connection with the case.

Mountain Home police have announced the arrest of Lajuan Lee, 38, in connection with a shooting at the Econowash at roughly 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lee was found hiding in a lumber yard in Ontario, Ore. later that day. He was initially held in the Malheur County Jail on an aggravated battery charge in connection with the case while awaiting extradition back to Idaho and Elmore County.

Police said tips from the public were instrumental in helping track down the suspect in the case.

The victim, also a black male, as yet unidentified, was taken by air ambulance to a Boise hospital shortly after the shooting. Officials at Mountain Home Air Force Base, where the victim was an airman serving with the 366th Logistics Readiness Squadron, said he was in stable condition following surgery Saturday.

Police said witnesses saw a man on his knees outside the

Econowash trying to wave them down. When they stopped to help, they realized he was wounded and immediately called 911. The man had been shot in the chest.

The Econowash is closed off with crime scene tape as police continue their investigation.

The victim told police the suspect just walked up to him and shot him. He offered no apparent reason for the attack, nor did he indicate he knew the assailant.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages at this point and very few details are available. Anyone who may have any information about the case should call 587-2100.
