Richard "Dick" Gretsch, 80, of Meridian, formerly of Mountain Home, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at a Meridian hospital, of natural causes, with his loving family by his side.

At his request no services will be held. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Richard was born on Dec. 26, 1933, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Victoria and Henry Gretsch.

He lived 18 years in St. Louis before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, in which he proudly served his country for 25 years.

After retirement in 1978, he worked various jobs on the base as well as in town.

He loved the outdoors and never got enough fishing and hunting. Playing cards was a favorite pastime.

Richard met his wife, Joyce, in Desoto, Wisc., and they were married 58 years. They have two children.

He enjoyed many happy times spent with his family. The last few years he lived in Meridian to be closer to them.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce, his son, Dennis (Margret), of Burns, Ore., and his daughter, Norma (Gary) Chappell, of Meridian. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Davlin, of Nampa, and Elizabeth, Tyler and Cole Chappell, of Meridian. He is survived by one great-granddaughter, Madyson Davlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
