Paul Edward Palmer Sr., 95, of Mountain Home, passed away July 29, 2014, in his home at Cedar Crest, where he resided for six years under the loving care of Charlene Humphreys and the staff who cared for him every day.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Paul was born in Brooks, Iowa, on April 8, 1919, one of six children born to Curtis and Beulah Palmer. Paul was a graduate of Corning High School in Corning, Iowa.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940 and retired in 1960.

He flew as flight engineer on Lockheed's Radar Super Constellations all over the world.

He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier in Hayward, Calif., and retired in 1982 after 22 years.

On Sept. 28, 1940, he married Mary A. Lacox and to this union was born a daughter, Patricia A. Thorpe, and a son, Paul E. Palmer Jr.

He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, great-granddad and great-great-granddad.

Paul loved to garden, camp and fish.

He will be surely missed by us all.

Paul is survived by: his children, Patricia A. Thorpe of Mountain Home and Paul E. Palmer Jr. of Temecula, Calif.; grandchildren Leslie Hammer, Traci Colton and Ryan Palmer; great-grandchildren Amy Waddell, Steven Minifie, Jessica Barnes, Ryan Hammer, Cody Ashby and Cory Ashby, and great-great-grandchildren Christopher Johnstone, Kaden Johnstone, Jace Waddell, Stella Barnes, Gabriel Barnes and Ryleigh Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Palmer (1995), granddaughter Malisa Palmer (1992), grandson Raymond Minifie Jr. (2009), his mother, Beulah Palmer (1969), his father, Leroy Palmer (1968), two brothers and three sisters, Lewis, Loren Maxine, Bernice and Ruth.
