City ends involvement with youth center

When volunteers began refurbishing the center, they discovered asbestos and other hazardous materials.

After providing financial support to keep the Mountain Home Youth Center open for more than 25 years, the city is ending its support for the organization.

The decision comes after the city spent thousands of dollars earlier this month to clean up hazardous waste from the youth center building.

  • Having a YMCA in Mountain Home would be great. They are an awesome foundation and have great programs. I hope they can include an indoor pool as well.

  • Why did the taxpayer pay for the hazardous waste issue and not the building owner?

    So now the building is safe and in saleable condition and the city bales out. I hope the building owner put the city council on his/her Christmas list at least.
