Streetwalkers say thanks

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Dear editor:

On behalf of the "Streetwalkers" who represent the Mountain Home Volunteer Fire department, I would like to thank each and every individual who donated to our annual Fourth of July celebration fireworks.

I would also like to thank the many generous business owners who give so generously to this community for the benefit of having a fun-filled family celebration and bringing everyone together for a safe and wonderful celebration of the birth of our country.

We are always amazed each year how generous this community is to make our fireworks such a success. Once again, we exceeded last year's total and will have to work harder next year to reach our goal.

My "Streetwalker" crew consists of the following: Vickie Bermensolo, Mary Beth Brown, Sharon Fletcher, Terry Knox, June Lonigro, Nancy Mason, Mary Miracle, Carol Mooney, Mary Lou Purcell, Jeanette Rost and Theresa Wilson. This year we added three rookies to our group. They are Judy Allred, Stephanie Bergh and Mary Holm.

These girls work extra hard on Wednesday evenings walking through your neighborhoods asking for donations for the fireworks from March through June to make each Fourth of July celebration memorable for all generations.

I would also like to thank Chief Bermensolo and all the firemen for providing our flyers and shirts and doing their part for our annual display.

This year, having seen the fireworks on the Fourth of July, please take a moment to remember Barb Cristobal, our first leader of the Streetwalkers.

Without her, the "Streetwalkers" would never have been formed. Miss you, Barb!

And give yourselves a pat on the back for making Mountain Home's fireworks show better and better every year.
