Amateur anglers gather during free fishing day

Amateur anglers joined seasoned fishermen at Legacy Park on Saturday during a yearly event aimed at introducing people of all ages to the sport.

Hosted by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the free fishing day event remains the one time of the year where people can fish anywhere in the state without a license.

A persistent breeze didn't seem to affect people's chances of landing their fair share of trout, blue gill and other fish. Alex Litz had already landed three trout after he cast his first line in the water 30 minutes earlier.
