Nine graduate from charter high school

Some rejoiced while others broke down in tears as nine students earned their diplomas during their graduation from Richard McKenna Charter High School on Saturday.

"There are few ways to celebrate the accomplishments of students, and a graduation ceremony is one of them," said Larry Slade, director for the charter school. "This pivotal point is a rite of passage" for these students.

Over these brief years, these students worked hard and made a number of personal sacrifices to reach this moment in their lives, according to Slade. As the same time, their teachers watched as these individuals matured and grew up and became young men and women.
