Patriot Thunder won't come to Mountain Home

Thursday, May 22, 2014
Bikes filled North 10th East Street during last year's Patriot Thunder event in Mountain Home. While the event will continue this year, the procession of motorcycles will not visit Mountain Home.

The annual Patriot Thunder fundraiser for area military charities will not be coming to Mountain Home.

In the past, the event saw hundreds of bikers traveling from the High Desert Harley-Davidson shop in Meridian to Mountain Home, raising money for Operation Warmheart on base, the Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund and the Waykin Warriors project.

But due to what organizers described as a series of "roadblocks" thrown up by state officials, the event now will simply be a "ride in" to the Harley-Davidson facility in Meridian from noon to 3 p.m. on June 1.

What a shame that the ripple affect from the decisions of others has to affect our wonderful town. I sure hope the powers that be, get their act together for next year.
