Mary Newlin

Monday, May 5, 2014

Mary P. Noble Newlin, a native of Bruneau, Idaho, died in Marysville, California, on January 15, days short of age ninety four.

Her parents, Jack and Dollie (Perjue) Noble and siblings, John, Roy, Grant, Oris, and Nellie preceded her, as did her husband of

fifty eight years, (COL) Charles A. Newlin. Mary graduated at the top of her Bruneau High School class of five, in the late thirties.

Meeting and marrying an army officer, who was assigned to a C.C.C. camp near Bruneau, started multiple moves over a period of

thirty plus years. This included living in The Philippine Islands and in England. During WWII, while her husband served in Europe,

Mary worked at Mountain Home Air Base. The home of record during the years of military service was Bruneau.

As an army wife, Mary volunteered countless hours at numerous army hospitals. When the couple retired to Santa Cruz County,

California, Mary continued her early interest in nursing. She trained as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and combined her love of the

elderly with her nursing skills, to work in local nursing homes. Well into her eighties, Mary continued her love of bowling, raising and

arranging flowers, and volunteering.

Survivors include daughters Connie Drennon, Ohio, Melissa Newlin Lucas, California, son John C. Newlin, grand children Megan Gaul,

Andrew Drennon, and Jennifer Barnes. There are also five great grand children.

Family and friends will gather to honor Mary's memory on Memorial Day, at Bruneau Cemetery, at 10:30 a.m. before the community service.

Support the planned Bruneau Operations Center in Mary's name, at P.O. Box 294, Bruneau.
