Private guns reduce crime

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Dear editor:

Well now, bless me bloomin' soul, the little blog darlin's are at it again. Oh, these nasty evil guns in the hands of honest lads. They oppose having armed guards in our schools, so they'd rather wait a half hour for the cops to get there, giving the psychos that much more time to murder MORE kids, MORE mall shoppers and MORE moviegoers.

The police can't be everywhere when things happen, but private citizens ARE. Whatever gun I'm carrying on any given day never leaves its holster unless required, but if truth be known, I'd bet it's thwarted more than one potential incident by its mere presence alone over the past dozen years or so.

To a psycho, your "15 minutes of fame" is only camera-worthy when you can inflict casualties in large numbers. If there's someone in over in Aisle 6 carrying a .45, or a teacher's aide with a weapon, you no longer have an abundance of time to work with.

The national average police response time to a 911 distress call is 23 minutes. The armed citizen shopping for pancake syrup in the next aisle over is considerably closer.

Furthermore, John Q. Citizen isn't bound by any protocol or "rules of engagement." Start something and you're going down immediately, not just being taken into custody when the cops arrive. That has to be taken seriously.

Guns in private hands HAVE stopped more crime than you know about, but these are the stories you will never hear from the liberal media that has an anti-gun agenda to begin with.

This notion that disarming private citizens to reduce crime requires serious drug testing for anyone who actually believes it. First of all, you aren't going to get them. Americans have had enough of communist doctrine. Secondly, the CRIMINALS aren't going to surrender THEIRS, so an unarmed populace in today's America would become a mass target gallery.

If the police can't protect you NOW, how are YOU going to do it? With what?

Maybe in this Utopian society the left keeps hallucinating about, there's an unknown "honor system," whereby the hoods have to give you time to leave the restaurant, leave your home or abandon your car they want to steal before they start shooting. That's not been my experience.

My guns are mine, Constitutionally legal and in honest hands, so until Eric Holder and his boys are behind bars for running 2,000 assault weapons to the Mexican drug cartels, the anti-gun hypocrites out there have nothing valid to say.

To those who chant that "Only the police and the military should have guns," move to Cuba, Russia, Red China or anywhere else where that's so. I'm not giving up my freedom for you or anyone else like you.

It's also prudent to avoid whenever possible, places of business that display "No Weapons Allowed" signs, such as the ones on that movie theater in Aurora. Its like "free candy to a psycho. They know when they walk IN there, they've got the only game in town. "Fish in a barrel, baby."
