Letter to the Editor

Choirs were great but audiences a little rude

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

Dear editor:

I attended the Mountain Home Choirs concert last Monday evening.

I want to congratulate all the participants, students and choir directors, for a wonderful concert. The selection of music ranged from traditional to modern and was well performed.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself listening to a great performance. I drove over an hour to see and hear my granddaughter who was in the Hacker Honors choir. It was a bonus for me to also listen to the junior high and the high school choirs.

There was one down side --the lack of etiquette and out and out rudeness from the audience.

Parents, if you must leave early, leave between songs and/or choirs, not during a song. How disheartening to the choir when people are leaving as they are singing. My band director gave out Fs for any student walking around during a number. I've seen the principal in the past keeping the door blocked during performances.

Let's show kindness for our students who have worked so hard to entertain us.
