Members of the high school drama department attended the state competition Dec. 6 and 7.

After qualifying at the District III Drama Competition at Eagle High School in November, 13 MHHS theatre students competed at the Idaho State Drama tournament Dec. 6-7 at Twin Falls High school, bringing home a gold and bronze medal.

About 500 students from around the state competed at the event and of the nine acting and technical theatre events in which MHHS students competed, three entries went on to the semi-final and final rounds.

Katie Young won first place in the solo humorous competition with her interpretation of "James and the Giant Peach."

Kimmie Rye and Madison Kean placed third in the state for their work in costume design.

Other entries in the competition were: Tucker Holland (solo humorous); Morgan Hunt (makeup design); Jessica Doyle (makeup design); Joey Vogl and DJ Johnson (ensemble humorous); Levi Gunderson (solo audition); Madeline Lawson (original serious), and McKenzie Thomason and Kylee Teal (pantomime).
