Tipanuk family wins Publisher's Clearinghouse sweepstakes

Connie and Rex Kiesser won a million dollars last week.

As they prepared to welcome their family for Thanksgiving, Connie and Rex Kiesser knew they had plenty of reasons to celebrate. Today, they have plenty more reasons to celebrate.

Make that a million new reasons.

With a crowd of people gathered outside of their home in Tipanuk last Tuesday, the Kiessers learned they had just become instant millionaires after they won one of the top prizes through Publisher's Clearinghouse.

They admit the timing couldn't have been better.

A severe heart attack last year left Connie unable to continue working as an interstate truck driver. Meanwhile, Rex and their son, Dustin, were both struggling in their search for steady work.

Hoping to make ends meet, they cut back on their spending in hopes of eliminating their bills. It included giving up personal cell phones and other luxuries.

In fact, the morning of Nov. 26 seemed no different for the Kiessers. Rex and Dustin were busy filling out job applications as Connie searched online for potential job openings. They planned to drop off those applications the following day.

And that's when the doorbell rang.
