Sunday, August 4, 2013

A Grand Junction, Colo., man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening north of Mountain Home.

Jeffrey D. Jackson, 49, was riding a 2005 Honda motorcycle eastbound on the interstate when the vehicle drifted off the left shoulder while he was passing other vehicles on the highway around 7:45 p.m.

According to a statement from the Elmore County Sheriff's Department, the motorcycle entered the median as Jackson tried to steer it back onto the pavement. Unable to maintain control, the motorcycle overturned, and he was thrown from the vehicle near milepost 92 north of town.

Jackson was transported by ambulance, to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise where he succumbed to his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash.
