Martin "Marty" Charles Darrington, 80, of Glenns Ferry, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home.

A viewing was held Monday, May 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenns Ferry. Services followed, with burial at Glenn Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Marty was born to George and Mary (Whitaker) Darrington on June 30, 1932 in Elba, Idaho, where he was raised and schooled. Marty graduated from Albion High School #1 in a class of two and that included the teacher. His favorite year in school was his third year in the second grade.

On Feb. 15, 1952, he married Betty Brackenberry. Of that union, four beautiful children came: Nick, Jerilyn, Sherilee and Chuck.

They later divorced and he met the love of his life, JoAnn Minnie Kandler. They were united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1961. Of that union, Wade and Ronald entered the family. Martin and JoAnn were inseparable.

Martin worked various jobs in the Burley area, including UTOC, Frank Hamm's Tire Store and farmed a little in Idahome. He then moved his family to a small place in Omill, up around Orofino, to do a little logging. As time went on, Martin and JoAnn went into the hamburger business in Glenns Ferry where JoAnn was the cook and Martin was the public relations man.

Always quick with the one liners and his easy smile, you couldn't help but enjoy and love him.

In 1994, they sold the hamburger business to their son, Ron, and Alice and retired to enjoy their time with grandkids.

Martin was JoAnn's best friend and eternal companion. He was the best father his kids could ask for and his grandkids loved him very much. He taught them many things with his wit.

He is gone, but will never be far away. For all that knew him, will always remember him. We love you and we'll miss you.

Marty is survived by his wife, JoAnn, children Nick of Rupert, Idaho, Jerilyn (Roy), Penrod and Sherilee (Andy) Anderson, all of Declo, Chuck (Nina) of Rapid City, S.D., Wade (Pam) and Ronald (Alice) all of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, two brothers, Lee and Neil Darrington of Utah, two sisters, Georgia Darrington of Washington and Linda Collins of Georgia, 15 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids.

Marty is preceded in death by his loving parents, sisters Eva and Bessie and brothers Ivan and Kent.
