Helping to 'stamp' out hunger...

Friday, May 17, 2013

From left, Terry Hodges, Scott Lindow and Hazel Hodges sort through bags of donated food before everything is loaded into trailers during the U.S. Post Office's 21st Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive across America on Saturday.

Local postal workers collected 9,890 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food during this year's effort.

The tally shattered a record set last year by 875 pounds. Donations were collected as the postal workers in Mountain Home and nearby Mountain Home Air Force Base ran their normal routes earlier that day. Proceeds will benefit the El-Ada Community Action Agency and Grace Lutheran Food Pantry in Mountain Home.
