Tennis team opens district tournament play at Caldwell

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team opens district tourney play Thursday at Caldwell High School.

The Tiger netters closed out the regular season schedule with conference losses to Nampa and Kuna.

Nampa Girls 7, Mountain Home Girls 0

Nampa Boys 6, Mountain Home Boys 1

Mountain Home's only point against Nampa came in the #2 boys doubles, with Danny Calvert and Steven Kreyche winning 7-5, 6-3. The #1 boys doubles team, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper, lost 0-6, 0-6.

Mountain Home lost all three boys singles matches, as Timothy Austin lost the #1 match 1-6, 4-6, Brad Foreman lost the #2 singles match 1-6, 4-6, and Joey McCullough dropped the #3 match 0-6, 1-6.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland lost the #1 match 0-6, 1-6. Stephanie Farnsworth was blanked in the #2 match 0-6, 0-6, and Karina Guadarrama lost the #3 match 1-6, 1-6. In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger were ahead in the #1 match, but Tessa had to medically retire after two sets, so they lost the match 6-4, 2-6. Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost a close match, 3-6, 4-6, in the #2 doubles.

In mixed doubles, Daniel Courtright and Heidi Rawlins lost the #1 match 1-6, 0-6 and Jacob Hanson and Kiana Galloway lost the #2 match 1-6, 1-6.

Kuna Girls 7, Mountain Home Girls 0

Kuna Boys 6, Mountain Home Boys 1

The Tigers closed out their regular season tennis schedule Thursday at Kuna, losing 7-0 in the girls and 6-1 in the boys match.

Mountain Home's lone win came in the #2 boys singles, as Brad Foreman won 7-6 (TB2), 6-4. Timothy Austin and Jared Shaw lost the #1 and #3 matches by 0-6, 0-6 scores. In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper lost the #1 doubles match 4-6, 2-6, and Andrew Turner and Joshua Saporta lost the #2 match 3-6, 1-6.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland, Stephanie Farnsworth and Kaitlyn Stevens all lost by 0-6, 0-6 scores.

In girls doubles match, Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6 and Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez lost a close #2 match, 3-6, 5-7.

In mixed doubles, Daniel Courtright and Heidi Rawlins dropped the #1 match 3-6, 4-6 and Marco Grajeda and Brytany Minder lost the #2 match 1-6, 1-6.

The Tigers open District III 4A Tournament play Thursday at Caldwell High School. Tournament action will include girls singles, boys singles, girls doubles, boys doubles and mixed doubles. Team points are earned from wins obtained in each of the categories.

The District III 4A JV Tennis Tournament was Saturday at Caldwell High School. Team scores had the Mountain Home girls finishing fourth and the boys ending up fifth.

Leading the Tigers in the JV tourney was the mixed doubles team of Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo, who won the mixed doubles championship.

Other team points were earned by the girls doubles team of Kira Anderson and Sami Feekes, Jessie Riley and Natalie Logue in girls singles, and Marc Pelletier won his first match in boys singles.
