Raymond Dale "Ray" Gilbert, 74, of Mountain Home, passed away on Feb. 11, 2013, at his home following an illness.

Inurnment will be held at the Bruneau Cemetery at 1 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, 2013. A potluck will follow at 1:30 p.m., at the Bruneau American Legion Hall. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Ray was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Walcott, Wyo., the son of George and Dott Gilbert. He was raised in the Rogerson/Hollister area and moving to the Bruneau area in 1965.

Ray married Alma Butterfield on March 29, 1965, in Elko, Nev., and with that marriage put two families together.

Ray enjoyed going to the mountains and gathering wood and helping his son, Jody, brand cattle in the Grand View area.

He also enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He enjoyed gardening, playing poker and cheating at it and enjoyed morning coffee at the local coffee shops.

Ray loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife, Alma, of Mountain Home, his son Jody and his wife, Pam Gilbert, of Grand View, his son Nolan Gilbert of Hammett, daughters Laura and Vicki Gilbert, both of Meridian, his stepson Bill Taylor of Grand View, his stepdaughters Patty Croucher of Medford, Cheryl Inskeep of Mountain Home and Linda Beck of Mountain Home, his brothers Ike and his wife, Gayle Gilbert, of Buhl, and Gene Gilbert of Clarkfork, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, his sister Hazel and a step-grandson.
