Letter to the Editor

Anti-smoking efforts work

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Dear editor:

I am writing to you as the Mission Delivery Chair for the Relay for Life of Elmore County.

Did you know that February is tobacco prevention month? It is a fact that Americans can prevent one-third of all cancers by not using tobacco. During the past three years, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) has played a significant role in statewide smoke-free campaigns, which protect the health of millions of workers and patrons.

It also means that we are making it easier for smokers to quit. There are kits to help smokers quit smoking once and for all. Just call 1-800-ACS-2345 or go online to www.cancer.org.

Together we can help our loved ones, co-workers, friends, and community quit smoking for good.
