District officials reflect on school shootings in Connecticut

Following the deaths of 26 students and teachers at a school in Connecticut, Mountain Home School District officials emphasized that procedures are in place to prevent a similar incident here.

After the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, the district received a handful of calls from concerned parents.

  • Make sure the Substitutes know the procedures. I am a substitute and know the procedures are not consistent. I see instructions of placing the "Green Card" under doors but not every teacher has the "card" in their classroom. I think all Substitutes should be trained on the procedures too and each teacher's "folder" updated to reflect the Emergency Procedures. Some of the folders still have A/B schedules in them.
