Roma Bassett

Roma Dawn Packer Bassett returned to her loving heavenly Father, and into the arms of her family on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' new Mountain Home Idaho Stake Center, 790 S. Haskett St., in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1935, in Emmett, Idaho, to Lafayette Packer and Bertha Johnson Packer. Roma was the youngest of eight children.

Roma married Richard A. Bassett on June 1, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four sons and two daughters, with many more that called her mom.

She was always giving service to those around her, and served in the many church callings.

She loved quilting and baking and won many ribbons for her bread.

She moved with her family to Mountain Home in 1966, where she has resided since.

Roma is survived by: her husband, Richard Bassett; sons Rick and his wife, Laura Bassett, of Clarkston, Wash.; Larry and his wife, JoRea Bassett, of Lewiston, Idaho; Denton and his wife, Vicki Bassett, of Emmett, Idaho, and Owen Bassett of Mountain Home; her daughters, Shellie and her husband, Richard Adams, of Mountain Home; Bertha Lynn and her husband, Darrell Jones, of Boise, 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, a step-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
