A lightning storm Monday afternoon triggered a series of wildfires across southern Idaho on Monday afternoon with one blaze threatening homes and businesses north of Mountain Home.

Smoke filled Mountain Home, with visibility in the Exit 95 area reduced to less than a mile, and Tuesday morning the smell of the fire, which burned to the very edge of the city, still permeated the town.

Despite the spectacular nature of the fire, however, there were no reports of any injuries or buildings burned.

  • How about someplace in the range of 400,000 acres on fire or burned within a 100 mile radius of our city.Thats all in the last two or three weeks.
