William "Bill" U. Magee, 74, of Mountain Home passed away at home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Bill was born in Marion County Miss., on May 12, 1938, the son of Bessie and Ulma Magee. As a young man growing up, family and friends called him "Sonny."

Bill joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed all over the world during his military career -- places like Germany; France; Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.; Thailand; Spain and Mountain Home.

He retired in July of 1975 as a tech sergeant. While in the service, he met Mitzi, the love and light in his life, and they were married Feb. 1, 1960, in Nancy, France.

Bill loved Idaho's beauty and loved deer and elk hunting with family and friends. "Mr. Bill" along with Mitzi were very involved in the Elmore County Humane Society and many other community activities. He also loved dancing and motorcycles.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Darlene Magee and his stepson, Raymond Morgan both of Mountain Home; and a sister, Barbara Sanderson of Saraland, Ala. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his wife, Mitzi.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Attn: Gift Processing, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
