A tip - Grant Bothen of Mountain Home School District under investigation for sexually molesting his 14 year old stepdaughter

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

I just wanted to give the news a tip for a story they may want to investigate, and involves the community. Grant Bothen is a coach with Mountain Home School District (I believe for Hacker Middle School). He is currently under investigation by Boise PD for sexually assaulting his 14 year old stepdaughter. This likely was occurring over a period of time, however the last incident was over Mother's Day weekend when her mother was out of town. It came to the family's attention on Tuesday night, May 15th, 2012.

When he was first confronted with the accusation, he left their house and no one was able to find him. He then sent a text message to his wife and mother-in-law apologizing for causing them pain and that he is a sick man. It is my understanding that he has now decided to deny the accusations against him as of yesterday. As you can understand, the family is devastated.

He is currently on paid leave with the school district.

The investigating officer is M. Dalpiaz, case # 211-345. Boise PD gets a lot of these cases a month, and likely won't have the resources to pursue this very hard. I feel due to that fact, it is important to get this story out into the community, especially since he works closely with young kids.

To whom it may concern,

According to Tim McMurtrey, Mountain Home School District superintendent, Grant Bothen was placed on administrative leave due to a personnel issue. At this time, the school district is unable to comment further on this topic.

Unless this matter becomes a formal legal issue, the Mountain Home News will not pursue this story at this point. This newspaper, as a matter of policy, does not devote personnel or resources to conduct investigative reporting.

Questions should be referred to either myself or Coleen Swenson, publisher of the Mountain Home News.
