Jack E. Grinnell, of Mountain Home, passed away May 15, 2012, in his home. Jack was born and raised in Camden, Maine. He was the youngest of three sons.

Two days after graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force and saw service in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired May 31, 1971.

After his service to the United States, he had a career as a sales supervisor for Idaho and Montana with a major oil company. Then he served as a state correctional officer in Boise with a final retirement Sept. 1, 1994.

In all three careers, he gave 120 percent of himself winning many awards and commendations. The "Cross of Honor" was awarded to him after the inmate riot of Sept. 15, 1988, in which he displayed the highest degree of bravery and actions.

He married Moni Grinnell, his wife of 58 years, in Munich, Germany in August 1953. They have three children: a son, Jack Grinnell of Mountain Home; a daughter, Semone Grinnell of Boise; and a daughter Shaleen (Dave) Rantala of Pocatello. They also have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

His first love of wife, children and family was followed by his love of the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing and hunting, and our fondest memories are times shared that way. We will miss the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather forever. Rest in our Lord.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral services. His request is no flowers please. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to cure cancer and heart disease
