Weather plays havoc on tennis squad

Rainy weather wiped out one tennis match and halted another halfway through, but the Mountain Home Tigers did manage to get one full match in last week.

The Tiger tennis team dropped a conference tennis match at Caldwell on April 23 with the girls getting blanked, 0-7, and the boys losing 1-6.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland lost the first singles match, 1-6, 0-6; Stephanie Farnsworth fell in the second match, 1-6, 1-6; and Heidi Rawlins lost the third match, 1-6, 1-6.

In girls doubles, Anna Martin and Leah Riley lost the first match in a three-set battle, 6-4, 4-6 and 6-7 with an 0-7 tiebreaker.

Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger lost the second match in three sets, 1-6, 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker and 11-13.

In boys singles, Mountain Home's Timothy Austin lost the first match, 1-6, 0-6; Daniel Courtright lost the second match, 1-6, 0-6; and Jeremy Gillies dropped the third match, 2-6, 4-6.

Mountain Home's lone win came in the first doubles match when Brad Foreman and Haydon Draper won, 6-1, 6-2. Andrew Turner and Joshua Saporta lost the second match, 0-6, 3-6.

In mixed doubles, Drew Borgholthaus and Allie Draper lost the first match, 2-6, 3-6; and Joe Spinazzolo and Karina Guadarrama lost the second match, 1-6, 0-6.

The Tigers match against Emmett last Wednesday made it half-way through the contest before the rain came and wiped out the rest of the match.

Brad Foreman picked up a win in the second boys singles, 6-2, 6-2.

In girls doubles, Anna Martin and Leah Riley won the first match, 6-1, 6-2; and Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won the first game of the second girls doubles match, 6-4, before the rain halted it.

Other completed matches saw Stephanie Farnsworth lose the first girls singles match, 2-6, 2-6; Jeremy Gillies and Joe Spinazzolo dropping the second boys doubles, 4-6, 4-6; and Drew Borgholthaus and Allie Draper losing the first mixed doubles match, 2-6, 5-7.

Mountain Home's Thursday home match against Nampa was rained out and rescheduled for 2 p.m. today, May 2, during Senior Night at Richard Aguirre Park.

The tennis Tigers close out their regular season schedule Thursday, May 3, at Columbia.
