Monday, April 30, 2012

Two Boise men remain in custody after a routine traffic stop led to a major drug bust Friday morning.

Joshua W. Smith, 30, and Anthony T. Buhler, 29, were traveling westbound on the interstate when a Idaho State Police trooper stopped their 2012 Toyota Avalon near milepost 92 north of Mountain Home around 10:40 a.m.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, troopers discovered approximately 6.5 pounds of marijuana along with prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun inside the vehicle. The estimated value of the seized marijuana was approximately $16,250, according to a press statement from the state police.

Smith and Buhler were booked into the Elmore County Jail and face charges of felony drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as two counts of illegal possession of prescription drugs.
