Wrestlers win medals during recent meets

Members of the local Mountain Man wrestling club earned a number of first-place titles and other accolades during a series of tournaments held in recent weeks.

Jon Ryan, Ryan Goldsby, Tanner Sessions, Josh Deal from Mountain Home High School along with Pierce Mederios from the junior high school amassed 10 first-place titles during three free-style events.

In addition, these wrestlers each one third and a pair of fifth-place medals during these competitions.

Meanwhile, Ryan and Deal went on to compete in the USA wrestling junior and cadet state tournament with Deal winning the 195-pound cadet division and Ryan finishing second overall in the 220-pound weight class.

During this past weekend, the Mountain Man wrestlers traveled to Homedale for another tournament with Collin Shoemaker winning the 75-pound bantam class. Caleb Teroy finished second in the 65-pound intermediate weight class while Kanoa Doronio placing second in the 85-pound school boy and girl division. In addition, Kawika Doronio finished fifth in the 55-pound intermediate class.
