Tiger netters falter during two matches

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team dropped two home conference matches to Emmett and Bishop Kelly last week.

The Tigers lost to Emmett at Richard Aguirre Park last Thursday with the girls falling 2-5 and the boys dropping in a 1-6 contest.

Mountain Home's two wins in the girls match came in the doubles, as Anna Martin and Leah Riley won the first match, 6-4, 6-3, with Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger winning the second match in three sets, 7-5, 1-6 and 6-4.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland lost the first match, 3-6, 2-6, Stephanie Farnsworth dropped the second, 2-6, 1-6, and Karina Guadarrama lost the third match, 0-6, 0-6.

The Mountain Home boys' only win came in the second doubles match where Brad Foreman and Haydon Draper won a three-set nailbiter, 7-6 with a 7-3 tie breaker followed by 4-6 and 6-1 victories. Ben Dearing and Eric Ward lost the first doubles match, 2-6, 5-7.

In boys singles, Timothy Austin lost the first match, 3-6, 2-6, Daniel Courtright dropped the second, 1-6, 2-6, and Andrew Turner lost the third match, 1-6, 1-6. In mixed doubles, Drew Borgholthaus and Allie Draper lost the first match, 3-6, 0-6, with Jacob Hanson and Kiana Galloway losing the second match, 1-6, 4-6.

The Tigers hosted Bishop Kelly on the nets at Richard Aguirre Park on Friday and lost to the Knights, 2-5 in girls play with the boys shut out in a 0-7 loss.

One of the wins for the Tiger girls came in the third singles match where Heidi Rawlins won by default. Karli Ireland battled three sets before losing the first match, 2-6, 6-2, 1-6. Meanwhile, Stephanie Farnsworth dropped the second match, 0-6, 2-6.

Mountain Home's other win came in the second girls doubles match where Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won, 7-5, 6-1. Anna Martin and Leah Riley dropped the first doubles match, 0-6, 0-6.

The Tigers lost all three boys singles matches with Timothy Austin getting blanked in the first match, 0-6, 0-6, Daniel Courtright losing the second, 2-6 0-6, and Joe Spinazzolo dropping the third match, 1-6, 0-6.

In boys doubles, Haydon Draper and Brad Foreman lost the first match, 1-6, 5-7, and Jacob Hanson and Dustin Emerson fell in the second, 3-6, 1-6. In mixed doubles, Drew Borgholthaus and Allie Draper lost the first match, 1-6, 0-6, while Jeremy Gillies and Kaitlyn Stevens lost the second, 0-6, 0-6.
