Student enrollment impacts school funding

The vast bulk of public school funding in Idaho now comes from the state, and central to the allocation of the money to each school district is the concept of the support unit.

The number of support units available to a school district is generally based on Average Daily Attendance -- how many warm bodies are filling a classroom seat on average. It's the reason that school enrollment (which has been slowly declining in the Mountain Home School District for over a decade) and attendance are so important to a school district.
