During a public meeting Jan. 25, the district's board of directors established a Feb. 21 deadline for groups applying for the $15,000 allocated through the district's "Let's Play" program.

Yes, taxed for years for a facility to benefit everyone in the community and we get 15K for YOUTH SPORTS. Still doing the math and trying to figure out how youth sports benefits everyone that has been paying taxes.

    Thats right it doesn't.

  • I agree with you,Trouble2011. When will the people who are paying the taxes, i.e. grown-ups, going to get their share of recreation?

  • 2011 Idaho Code

TITLE 31 COUNTIES AND COUNTY LAW

    CHAPTER 43 RECREATION DISTRICTS

    31-4316 PURPOSE OF DISTRICT.

ID Code § 31-4316 (2011 through Reg Sess) What's This?

Purpose of district. Each district is organized for the uses and purposes of acquiring, providing, maintaining and operating public recreation centers, swimming facilities, pools, picnic areas, camping facilities, ball parks, handball courts, tennis courts, marine and snowmobile facilities, recreational pathways, ski areas, and golf courses and public transportation systems and facilities serving the district together with all related grounds, buildings, equipment and apparatus for the use of the residents of the district and the public generally.

Hmmmmm...says nothing about providing funding for a select group/population---that do not even pay taxes. Imagine that!

I'm not particularly thrilled with the way WECRD is run, but I'm glad that they are allocatiing SOME money. And the youth are the children of the tax payers. That works for me as well. Better than nothing I suppose
