The Mountain Home Lady Tigers held off Emmett Saturday for a 43-37 conference win, which snapped a four-game losing skid.

Middleton 50, Mountain Home 38

A fourth-quarter rally fell short for Mountain home Thursday night as they lost at Middleton 50-38 to the Lady Vikings in conference basketball.

Mountain Home battled the Lady Vikings tough in the first quarter, but trailed 15-11 at the quarter's end. Middleton led 27-20 at the half and extended it to 41-29 after three.

The Lady Tigers fought back in the fourth quarter to within five with 1:20 left, but could get no closer as Middleton pushed its lead back out to 50-38 at the end.

"We were within five, and Courtney Christiansen had a great look at a three," said Mountain Home girls basketball coach Brent Keener. "We drew something up and it went in and out, so we could have cut it to two with a minute-twenty left.

"I think we put a real scare in them, and I thought the girls really stepped up, because Keesha (Janis-Gibson) went down late in the second half with a strained shoulder, so our other girls stepped up, which is what we need."

Keesha Janis-Gibson led Mountain Home with a double-double, scoring 18 points and bringing down 12 rebounds.

Courtney Christiansen also hit for double figures with 10, Hailey Belt put in five, Marissa Streeter three and Madi Karst two.

Mountain Home 43, Emmett 37

The Lady Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with their 43-37 win over Emmett in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

The game was a see-saw affair, with the lead going back and forth. There were seven lead changes and ten ties. The first quarter ended in a 9-9 tie and Mountain Home was up by one, 23-22, at the half.

Teresa Fredell sparked Mountain Home to start the third quarter, scoring five of her seven points early in the quarter as the Lady Tigers built their lead to six, 28-22, but Emmett battled back to take the lead. It was tied at 32 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tessa Pachner, who started for Mountain Home in place of Emilee Schetzle, who was out with a concussion, scored seven of her season-high 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Tigers built their lead and held off the Lady Huskies for the 43-37 win.

It's definitely nice to get a victory," Coach Keener said. "We didn't always execute at times and it wasn't always the prettiest at times, but to get a win right now, we'll take it."

Keesha Janis-Gibson, cleared to play from her shoulder injury that morning, scored 14 points to led Mountain Home. Tessa Pachner, who had 17 points on the season coming in, had her season-high 13. Teresa Fredell added seven, Selena Foster five and Courtney Christiansen and Hailey Belt each scored two.

Christiansen led the team in steals with six.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 3-5 for the season in conference and 3-7 overall.

Mountain Home returns to action with road games to Twin Falls and Jerome on Dec. 29 and 30.
