Lady runners place second at District

The Mountain Home girls cross country team finished second at Thursday's district cross country meet at Eagle Island State Park.

They also qualified as a team for the State 4A Cross Country Meet, which will be back at Eagle Island State Park this Saturday, Oct. 29.

Bishop Kelly won the District III 4A cross country meet with 41 points. Mountain Home was second, their 88 points edging out Kuna by one point. Skyview was fourth with 91 and Middleton fifth with 103.

The top five teams all qualify for the state meet. Emmett was sixth, with 140, followed by Columbia at 158, Nampa at 192 and Caldwell with 271.

Keesha Janis-Gibson led the Mountain Home girls. She had a new personal best time of 20 minutes, 14.81 seconds, which placed her sixth. Sarah Richins was eighth (20:18.83), Kacee Cameron 18th (21:04.41), Arisha Karren 27th (21:27.70), Arial Groene 28th (21:36.67), Shelby Henrick 36th (22:02.52) and Alicia Reynolds 51st (24:11:04).

Bishop Kelly also won the boys competition, edging Kuna 58-64 for first place. Columbia finished third with 91, Caldwell was fourth with 104 and Middleton was the final state qualifier in fifth place with 107 points. Nampa was sixth with 118, Mountain Home seventh with 175, followed by Skyview with 182 and Emmett at 220.

Mike Price led the Tiger boys with a fourth-place finish in a time of 16 minutes, 57.34 seconds. He qualified for state as an individual. The top 21 runners qualified individually, and Taylor Croft narrowly missed qualifying, finishing 23rd. His time of 17:42.17 was just 2.47 seconds behind the 21st-place runner's time. Jon Dodge finished 44th (18:37.01), Peyton Cline 49th (18:54.88), Andy Croft 55th (19:04.02), Daniel Courtright 59th (19:29.55) and Steven Kreyche 61st (19:54.25).

Tracy Gordon led the Mountain Home girls in the JV race, finishing 29th with a new personal best time of 24:07. Rachel Goodman came in 32nd with a new PR of 24:13.36. Aundrea Dickenson also set a new PR with her 48th-place time of 25:29. Erika Cook was 59th (29:27.34).

Cody Ashby led the Tiger boys in the JV meet with a new PR of 20:07, finishing 46th. Bill King came in 76th (20:59.17 -- new PR), Nolan Pasqualetti 83rd (21:12.95), Connor McCellan 83rd (21.48.41 -- new PR), Andrew Turner 111th (22:52.58), Dylan Goodall 120th (25:49.51) and Cody Price 122nd (26:03.99).
