A Mountain Home man was sentenced to nearly six years in prison for drug possession during sentencing in U.S. District Court on Oct. 11.

Eduardo Lopez-Rojo, 37, pled guilty on conspiracy charges related to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced.

U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered Lopez-Rojo to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.

He pleaded guilty to the charge July 19. According to the plea agreement, Lopez-Rojo admitted that he received methamphetamine from a co-conspirator on at least three occasions in late 2010, which he then sold in Mountain Home.

Lopez-Rojo received a total of $6,300 in cash for these three deals, which were monitored by Idaho State Police detectives. State police arrested him April 19 for his role in the conspiracy.

In addition to the federal conviction, he remains in confinement on a hold order issued by the U.S. Marshall's office regarding his immigration status.
