A new beginning...

Kenneth Gainous III uses a scraper to clean up the lettering on the Mountain Home Youth Center's sign on North Main Street during a cleanup effort Saturday. Gainous and other volunteers gathered at the youth recreation outlet during the day to give the facility a needed facelift.

In addition to the outside improvements, volunteers gave the facility's interior a thorough scrubbing. In coming weeks, they expect to repaint the interior as they find ways to keep the building open after the organization lost its funding.
