It took five games, but the Lady Tigers prevailed Thursday night with a 3-2 win over Kuna in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home started slow in the first game, and were down 0-4, before they got their game going. After ties at 5-5, 6-6 and 7-7, the Lady Tigers rolled to a 25-14 win.

The second game had seven ties, the last at 16-16, before the Lady Tigers went on a 9-2 run to win it 25-18.

The third game had 10 ties, the last at 23-23, before Kuna scored the final two points to win 25-23.

Mountain Home shot out to a 9-2 lead in the fourth game, but were outscored 23-12 the rest of the way as they lost 21-25, tying the match at two games apiece.

Mountain Home got four serving aces from Krissy Elliott in the fifth game as they took control and won 15-8, to win the match, three games to two.

"We got a little too comfortable in the third and fourth games and didn't think we needed to play as hard and let them get away from us," said Coach Asbury after the Kuna match. "It happens and they decided to come out with a win once they set their mind to it.

"We were able to fight back and put them away in the last game with hard serves."

Dakota Dean was 22/22 on serves, with one ace and a kill. Brittany Ryan was 19/20 serving with five aces, five blocks and 11 digs. Krissy Elliott was 17/19 serving with five aces and six digs. Dylan Dean was 14/16 serving, with three aces, nine assists and 21 kills.

Hailey Belt was 8/10 serving with an ace, four kills and 14 assists. Tessa Pachner was 8/9 on serves with two aces, five blocks and two kills. Stephanie Jewell was 6/6 serving with three assists. Emilee Schetzle was 4/6 serving with an ace, five blocks and one kill. Selena Foster had nine kills and an assist, and Emma Wenger had four kills and a block.

The win improves the Lady Tigers to 3-1 in league play.

The girls are doing great," said Coach Asbury. "The loss that we have to Skyview, it was the season opener. The first game of the night we didn't play so well, but the second two we played tough, so it's definitely when we get around to Skyview again, we'll give them a run for their money."

The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday night with a tri-match at Emmett against Bishop Kelly and Emmett.

"They're tough teams, tough serving teams, very disciplined teams," said Coach Asbury. "BK has the Player of the Year from last year -- she was a junior as the player of the year -- in Rebecca Sweeney, so she's going to be tough, and they're just disciplined, so we're not going to be able to miss serves or have errors.

"Emmett has a lot of good servers," the coach added. "They're not as tall a team, but they're still able to put the ball where it needs to go to score."

The Lady Tigers will travel to Twin Falls on Saturday for the annual Twin Falls Tournament.
