A new alternative energy project started taking shape in Mountain Home, one piece at a time, last month.

The small-scale solar power generators being installed at the city's public works warehouse are part of a state-wide initiative involving other cities across Idaho.

The Idaho Department of Energy Resources provided more than $917,000 through its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program earlier this year. These grants provided enough funding to install these solar panels in seven Idaho cities.
