For his ability to foster excellence in learning, a teacher from West Elementary School earned the Mountain Home School District's top educator honor for 2010.

Travis Willoughby, who marked his second year as a first grade instructor, goes on to represent the district at the state's teacher of the year competition.

A 1990 graduate from Mountain Home High School, he considered a teaching career shortly after he graduated from Eastern Oregon University. Although he put those plans on hold, he remained connected to helping teach children and teens over the years.
