Following a rainy, chilly spring, Mountain Home's outdoor swimming pool opened Saturday afternoon with park officials planning to keep the facility open through Aug. 13.

Located at 990 McKenna Drive in Richard Aguirre Park, the pool complex opens from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. daily with the children's wading pool expected to open July 3.

After 10 years of planning, parks and recreation added a new feature to the park complex Thursday when staff members installed a water slide on the deep end of the outdoor pool. The project had remained on hold pending funding, which actually yielded a newer style of slide at a lower cost, said parks and recreation director Stan Franks.
