Mountain Home School District

May 17 -- The school board meets at 7:30 p.m.

East Elementary School

Thursday, April 28 -- The fourth grade class participates in the Wagon's Ho pioneer experience at Carl Miller Park.

North Elementary School

Thursday, April 28 -- A kindergarten concert begins at 6:30 p.m.

Friday -- The fourth grade class participates in the Wagon's Ho pioneer experience at Carl Miller Park.

West Elementary School

Friday -- The fourth grade class participates in the Wagon's Ho pioneer experience at Carl Miller Park.

Base Primary School

Today, April 27 -- The fourth grade class participates in the Wagon's Ho pioneer experience at Carl Miller Park. In addition, the fourth graders holds a pair of concerts at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 28 -- The school's reading buddies meet with younger students from 8:40 to 9:20 a.m.

Friday -- Students are encouraged to wear their Base Primary School apparel during the school's spirit day celebration.

School store -- The parents and teachers together association opens its school store from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays and offers an assortment of school supplies for students.

Hacker Middle School

Testing continues -- Idaho Standards Achievement Test, or ISATs, continue through May 4.

Today, April 27 -- The school's leadership class concludes its annual scrap metal drive. Proceeds from the event benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Boise.

Friday -- The fifth grade class attends a Civil War reenactment at Eagle Island Park. The cost is $2 per student with the school's parents and teachers together organization covering the remaining costs. Parents must fill out permission slips for their children to attend.

May 10 -- Fifth and sixth graders take the Spring Curriculum Based Measures exam in reading, language arts and math.

May 11 -- The middle school holds a band and choir concert at 1:30 and 7 p.m.

Mountain Home Jr. High School

May 17 -- The junior high school choir performs at 7 p.m.

Mountain Home High School

Tuesday -- The Mountain Home High School spring band concert begins at 7 p.m.

May 5 -- Mountain Home High School concert band and choir participate in the District III middle level large group band and choir festival.

May 10 -- The Mountain Home High School jazz band holds its final concert of the school year.

Senior celebration set -- The senior celebration for the graduating class of 2011 is scheduled for the evening of May 27. Passports for admission to this year's event are $35 through Friday and $40 starting Monday. Tickets go on sold during lunchtime in the foyer Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Theater production begins -- The school's Encore Company theater group presents "Back to the 80s," the totally awesome musical, starting Thursday, April 28. Curtain call is 7 p.m. each evening with the final show set for Saturday. Tickets are sold at the door and cost $4 for students and $6 for adults.

Varsity golf -- Monday at Falcon Crest versus Emmett, Middleton and Kuna, 4 p.m. May 9 at Hunter Point for the district tournament, 8 a.m.

McKenna Charter High School

Students selected for Legion event -- Charter high school students Karla Rogers and Brian Nelson recently earned selections to attend a mock government exercise hosted by the American Legion. The Legion's girls and boys state mock government exercises showcase how the government works while helping selected students develop leadership skills and an appreciation for civil rights.

Donations sought -- The school continues to accept donations for its annual end-of-year silent auction. For details, call Colette Bundy at 580-2449.

Pennies for Peace ­-- As of Monday, students at the school collected more than $165 for its Pennies for Peace initiative.

Volunteer update -- Since the start of the school year, students at the charter school have volunteered more than 1,021 hours in support of community service projects.
