Base continues pursuing airspace expansion plan

A tentative agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration could give Mountain Home Air Force Base greater flexibility to conduct air combat training across southern Idaho.

Currently under review by the FAA's national headquarters in Washington, D.C., the plan seeks to increase available airspace on the southeastern edge of the Mountain Home Range Complex with some additional increases to its western border.

During recent meetings between base and air traffic control officials in Salt Lake City, the FAA also gave preliminary approval to expand vertical airspace over the training range by several thousand feet.
