Tennis squads compete

The Mountain Home Tigers dropped two conference tennis matches last week, losing to Kuna and Columbia.

Kuna Boys 7, Mtn. Home Boys 0

The Mountain Home Tigers got swept by Kuna last Monday at Kuna in both the girls and boys tennis matches.

In girls singles, Carolyn Bailey lost the #1 singles match 2-6, 1-6. Brittany Ryan lost the #2 match in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, and Stephanie Farnsworth dropped the #3 match 0-6, 3-6.

In girls' doubles, Anna Martin and Leah Riley lost the #1 match 2-6, 1-6, and Rebecca Young and Brytany Minder lost the #2 match 1-6, 1-6.

In boys' singles, Drew Borgholthaus lost the #1 singles match 1-6, 1-6. Justin Rogow dropped the #2 match 2-6, 3-6, and Wilson Ong lost the #3 match 1-6, 0-6.

In boys doubles, Blake Pachner and Jalen Gibbons lost the #1 match 1-6, 2-6, and Ben Cumber and Richard Goldsberry lost the #2 match 1-6, 1-6.

In mixed doubles, Chris Hall and Allie Draper lost the #1 match 4-6, 0-6, and Jeremy Gillies and Kali Ireland dropped the #2 match 1-6, 3-6.

"Our team couldn't capitalize on any of the few breaks that we got," said Mountain Home Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House.

"We play them at home at the end of the season, so our goal will be to greatly improve our play."

Columbia Girls 7, Mtn. Home Girls 0

Columbia Boys 7, Mtn. Home Boys 0

Mountain Home came up empty Thursday against Columbia, although most of the matches were close ones.

In girls' singles, Carolyn Bailey dropped the #1 match 1-6, 1-6.

Natalie Bush dropped a close #2 match, 6-7 (TB 6-8), 4-6, and Sophia Stoltmann lost the #3 match 1-6, 2-6.

In girls' doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger dropped the #1 match in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 1-6, and Anna Martin and Leah Riley lost the #2 match 4-6, 1-6.

In boys' singles, Justin Rogow lost a close #1 match 4-6, 4-6.

Timothy Austin lost the #2 match 4-6, 0-6, and Wilson Ong went down 0-6, 1-6.

In boys' doubles, Jalen Gibbons and Blake Pachner dropped the #1 match in three sets 1-6, 7-6 (TB 9-7), 4-6, and Jacob Hanson and Eric Ward dropped the #2 match 1-6, 3-6.

In mixed doubles, Jared Mott and Brittany Ryan lost the #1 match 2-6, 4-6, and Jeremy Gillies and Kali Ireland lost the #2 match 0-6, 0-6.

"Both the boys' and girls' teams gave Columbia a run for their money," said Coach House. "They didn't pull out any wins, but Columbia had to battle to almost 9 p.m. to close out the match. I'm very proud of their play."

The Tigers were at Skyview on Monday and host Bishop Kelly on Thursday at the Mountain Home Air Force Base courts.
