C.J. boaters made waves

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Dear editor:

The wife and I were on C.J. Strike on April 1, such a great sunny day. Looked like many others also thought it would be nice to be on the water, too. The fishing was great, but the catching, not that good, but a sunny day on the water just can't be beat.

The only thing that really put a damper on our enjoyment, was while we were fishing in the Narrows there were some boaters who I guess wanted to impress all the boaters in the Narrows with just how fast they could get from one end to the other.

What kind of mentality is that? Blasting through with the motor cranked up and doing 50 mph is. first, a stupid act (unless it's an emergency), and danged inconsiderate to the other boaters.

The Narrows was loaded with boats, both along the banks, and some even anchored in the middle. Then some yahoo would come blasting through and then everyone hung on until the waves stopped.

I saw one guy in a bass boat, who was standing pitching lures, and danged near went into the water and had to grab a seat to keep from going in.

If you are one of those who likes to crank up the motor and ride fast, why not do it out in open water, instead of getting those who are getting bounced around by your two-foot waves pissed off?

Just food for thought.
