Members of the Mountain Home community paid tribute this week to a local physician who cared for generations of patients here.

Dr. A. Wakelee Bledsoe, 60, died April 5 following her battle against leukemia.

A Hammett resident, she started providing care for Mountain Home children in 1984.

She was our families pediatrician, and we all loved her.

Wakelee, thanks for all you did. We will miss you

  • You could tell she truly cared about her patients and their whole families. She took away some of the anxiety of parenting because you knew you weren't just forgotten as soon as you walked out the door, she would call you if she thought of something else. Or just to see how your child was doing. I also enjoyed visiting with her while she was caring for my boys. She was a very warm lady and she went so far out of her way to care for her patients. I'm really going to miss her. And prayers to her family and friends who've lost so much more than the rest of us.

  • In Mar 2010, shortly after my granddaughter was born, Dr. Bledsoe agreed to accept her as a patient. I did not realize at the time that Dr. Bledsoe was ill. Despite her illness she provided exemplary care to my granddaughter until we were informed she was quitting her practice. I am forever grateful to her.

  • I will forever be grateful, Dr. Bledsoe was an extraordinary woman. she was the doctor to my siblings and i since the time we were born. I remember her coming over to our home when any of us were sick just to simply check on us. She is what you would truly call an old fashioned doctor, never rested until she found the problem. I know many members of the community truly cherished the fact that she cared for the young children of the community. It's no exaggeration when i say all of this, you will truly be missed

    You will be missed.
