Lady Tigers split four-game series at softball classic

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with two wins in four games at the Idaho Sporting Goods Softball Spring Classic over the weekend.

Mountain Home 10, Madison 0

Heather Adams pitched a two-hit shutout and the Lady Tigers banged out 13 hits in a 10-0 win over Madison in their opener Thursday afternoon at Borah. Adams struck out nine and walked three to improve to 6-1 on the season.

At the plate, Madison Siefferman, Courtney Christiansen, Brittney Karst and Morgan Vivier all had two hits. Christiansen had a home run and three RBIs, Siefferman knocked in two runs and Karst had a double and an RBI. Krissy Elliott, Heather Adams, Madi Karst, Rachel Warila and Ashley Sessions also had hits. Elliott and Warila both had doubles and RBI.

Fruitland 8, Mountain Home 4

A five-run fourth inning proved to be the difference as Fruitland downed the Lady Tigers 8-4 Friday at Borah.

Madison Siefferman and Madi Karst both had two hits to lead Mountain Home. Siefferman had a double and a triple and Karst had two RBIs. Brittney Karst and Heather Adams also had hits. Karst had an RBI.

On the mound, Karst suffered the loss.

Pocatello 9, Mountain Home 7

A five-run fifth inning proved to be the difference Saturday as Pocatello edged Mountain Home 9-7 at the ISG tourney.

Mountain Home went up 4-1 with four runs in the top of the third, but the Lady Indians tied it with three in the bottom half of the inning.

The Lady Tigers added three more in the fourth to go up 7-4, but the five-run fifth proved to be the difference.

Madison Siefferman had three hits in the game to lead Mountain Home. Courtney Christiansen had two hits and drove in two runs. Krissy Elliott, Madi Karst, Brittany Karst, Caitlyn Sheehy and Morgan Vivier also had hits Karst had a double and two RBI and Elliott and Brittney Karst also had RBIs.

Karst suffered the loss, despite giving up just four earned runs.

Mountain Home 20, Borah 9 (4 innings)

The Lady Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning and added eight in the fourth on their way to a 20-9 win over Borah in four innings at Borah Saturday.

Kaitlyn Sheehy led the Lady Tigers at the plate with three hits including a double and home run and five RBIs. Madison Siefferman, Krissy Elliott and Morgan Vivier also had three hits. Siefferman had two doubles and three RBIs. Elliott knocked in two runs and Vivier one.

Rachel Warila and Heather Adams both had two hits. Warila had a home run and six RBIs. Adams knocked in one run. Courtney Christiansen had a hit and two RBIs.

Heather Adams went the distance for the win to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Chris Asbury was pleased with their efforts in the tourney.

"We were looking to build some depth and learn a little bit more about our team and come up with a consistent line-up, and we exceeded expectations," he said. "Overall, it was a very successful experience."

The Lady Tigers, now 8-4 on the season and 4-0 in conference, hosted Kuna on Tuesday and travel to Columbia this Thursday.
