The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet in Mountain Home netted almost $70,000 on a $95,000 gross, banquet chairman Jeff Day said this week.

That total for the 19th banquet held locally will be added to the over $600,000 the local chapter has raised in its previous banquets to help with big game habitat preservation and restoration.

For the first time in years, the banquet was returned to the Elk's Club from base, and despite some minor glitches with the new set-up, Day described the event as "one of the best banquets we've ever had."
