I rest my case on this crosswalk issue. Like I said on the Banter Box, people need to obey the law and stop for people in the crosswalk. Are you to busy or in a hurry for a few seconds to a minute of time, to let someone cross. Lets take a hint from the people in Japan, who value each other as a whole more than themselves. How many more have to be hit in our towns crosswalks before people take notice. We say we are the greatest nation on the planet, but we sure are selfish in our daily actions.

  • I have noticed that a lot of kids do not even look before they cross the street they will just run out there.. I think parents should sit down and talk to their kids and teach them how to cross the road... I am not saying everyone is a bad drive just that the kids need to be aware too!!

  • Yes, as drivers we need to be aware of what's in front of us, but what I saw yesterday evening would have no way been the driver's fault had the child been hit.

I was on American Legion going towards Walmart. A car was turning left to go up 10th towards East Elemntary. The car had to stop in the middle of it's turn because a little girl on a bicycle decided to cross BEHIND a pick-up that was in the turn lane to make the left from 10th onto American Legion. She could have gone down 15 feet further and used the crosswalk. Had the car made it's turn just 1 second sooner they wouldn't have been able to see her before she came out from behind the pick-up.
