Local music students post high marks at festival

Thursday, March 17, 2011
Hacker Middle School students performed last week in the capitol rotunda as part of a nationwide music event.

More than 120 band and choir students from the Mountain Home School District earned top marks during a band and choir festival Saturday in Caldwell.

Those representing local area schools were 42 performers from Mountain Home Junior High School and 84 students from Hacker Middle School.

The District III Middle School Solo and Small Ensemble Festival for Band and Choir serves as a forum where these groups perform for others while judges rate their performance, according to junior high school band director Jerry C. Tippets.
